UGL, through its operations, supplies many of the necessities of community life - power, water, transport and employment.

Being a good corporate citizen and supporting the community is a major part of UGL's philosophy as it repays the trust that communities put in giving UGL contracts for these essential services. A strong relationship with local communities is essential to the successful operation of UGL and this is particularly important in the many remote sites that the company operates. UGL supports the community by:

• Managing all operations in a safe and responsible manner
• Eliminating or minimising any potential adverse impacts on neighbours
• Maintaining regular communication with neighbours, communities and local authorities
• Providing support for a range of community programs and projects

From time to time UGL makes donations to significant community projects and programs. The objective is to assist community-based initiatives that benefit a cross-section of the regional community.

UGL receives a large number of requests every year and preference is given to groups enjoying broad community support and especially those of relevance to UGL’s workforce and families. It is expected that UGL will be just one source of funds contributing to a project or cause, and further preference is given to groups that show a high level of self-help.
